First we moved on the limestone paving at Malham Cove. Sarah chose
this space. We took turns to film and move; there was no discussion
about what... where... how... when... we just started filming and
moving Spontaneously, making connections with the environment, the
camera and each other.
Sarah:
" Limestone has a secret inner world. The cavernous chambers
where waters suddenly disappear from surface life. I moved with
an awareness of inner and outer, giving body to my internal world."
" I moved with the idea of private in a public space, that which
would normally be kept hidden, placed in the natural landscape and
captured on film for prosperity."
"The morning, chilly grey, gave way to warm spring sunshine.
Struggle, contemplation then a moment of celebration on the rock.
My ending, a prayer of gratitude that I could in this place, at
this time, truly be myself."
Tamsin:
"Being on uneven rock with plenty of small crevasses made
it more challenging to film and move with the camera at the same
time – having to keep my eyes on both the camera screen and
the ground.
While filming I felt I was entering Sarah’s world; the decisions
I took about camera angles, zooming in and out etc. were not predetermined,
they were an intuitive response to the movement."
